Michael Epstein
President
Michael has been involved in the lifestyle sports industry both personally and professionally for over 20 years. An Ironman Triathlon Finisher, Michael has competed in numerous endurance events, including triathlons, mountain bike races and adventure races. A graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, he started his career in Operations and Production Management in the Offshore Oil and Recording industries. Michael started MESP, Inc. after producing the first Malibu Triathlon as a hobby. He also enjoys hobbies such as swimming, cycling, motocross and activities with his wife and son.

Matt Peterson
Director of Operations
Matt graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, where he was also the captain of the swimming team. He is an outdoor enthusiast, avid sports fan and competitive athlete. In 2006 he completed the Ironman Arizona and continues to train for triathlons. Matt started at MESP, Inc. in 2004 working in Athlete Relations and has been working in Race Logistics since 2005.

Desiree Friedman
Director of Business Development
Desiree has been with MESP, Inc. in the marketing department since 2006. Prior to MESP, Inc. she worked with many sport organizations including professional sport franchises, collegiate sports and the Athens 2006 Summer Olympics. Desiree earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Journalism and Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge as well as a Masters’ Degree in Sport Management from California State University, Long Beach. Desiree’s hobbies include cheering on the Dodgers and outdoor activities.

Blake Carey
Race Coordinator
Blake graduated from University of Florida with a BS in Sport Management and Minor in Business Administration. He recently moved to the Los Angeles area from Denver where he worked in the sports event field since 2006 planning a varietly of tournaments all over the USA. Blake enjoys being outside, active and playing team sports.

Larissa Lewis
Administrator of Athlete Service
Larissa, originally from Brooklyn, NY graduated from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and a Minor in Marketing. Previously, she was involved in entertainment marketing, and has also enjoyed working with athletes in running specialty shops. She completed her first Ironman triathlon in 2005 and has been hooked ever since.

Eric Beck
Race Coordinator
After a short tenure as an educator, Eric has involved himself in sports production for the last four years. Prior to MESP, Inc. he worked in the golf and college bowl game industries. Eric earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both Kinesiology and History from the University of Wisconsin as well as a Masters’ Degree in Sport Management from Northern Illinois University. Eric’s hobbies include cheering on the Brewers, Badgers and Packers, SCUBA diving, golf, downhill skiing and playing “Bags”.

Libby Mooney
Marketing Coordinator
Originally from Arizona, Libby attended college at Pepperdine University. After falling in love with the Southern California beach, she decided to stay at Pepperdine for her Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. She looked to MESP to turn her lifelong love of sports into a career. Her hobbies include hiking, traveling, and running.

Krystle Van Deusen
Administrator of Athlete Relations
Krystle, originally from Prescott Valley, Arizona, graduated from California Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Marketing. Prior to joining the MESP team, she worked as an Account Executive at Worldwide Express. As an athlete herself, she turned to MESP to share her lifelong passion of lifestyle sports. Her hobbies include biking, backpacking, hiking and relaxing by the beach.
